Let’s face it, die cast reels are intended to be low cost alternatives to a machined reel, right? Imported, heavier, easier to damage, plain Jane, etc.
Well . . . not necessarily.
When we started creating Liquid we focused purely on the virtues and advantages a pressure-cast process can offer. Structurally you can do things with casting that you can’t machine, such as full radiused compound curves, near zero-radius inside corners, and for precise fit and finish you can go back and machine the cast part in critical areas amplifying the best aspects of the process.
We pushed back on other boundaries as well. How much of a reel at this price can we make here in the U.S.? Quite a lot as it turns out, and it’s a good mix. These high quality castings are imported, but the components critical to the drag system are CNC-machined here in the U.S. Liquid reels are assembled in Boise alongside our highest priced reels.
The Dash loads fast action rods early in the cast, maintaining high line speeds to knock over heavy flies, punch through wind and power over long leaders. It has power when you need it but wont overload your rod, kind of like tiger and pussy cat all rolled up in one.
Airflo are the only company who extrude Polyurethane as a super tough coating on our fly lines. With the inclusion of our new “FLO” technology, we are now able to produce a line that has running lines slimmer in diameter than our competitors, without any of the durability issues associated with PVC. The end result is a fly line that has a super charged head to running line diameter ratio, glides through the rings with minimal friction and has all the handling attributes and durability of the best fly line in the world.
